IOM PROMOTES COORDINATION IN FAVOR OF VULNERABLE POPULATIONS
As part of the actions aimed at generating synergies in favour of the most vulnerable populations, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) led a meeting with partner institutions of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in order to establish a coordination plan that would benefit the Salvadoran population.
IOM prioritizes interagency partnerships with related institutions to optimize the flow of information that would enrich the analysis of the Salvadoran reality and thus make informed decisions on projects that are taking place within the territory.
Consequently, the meeting was a platform for the other institutions to have access to IOM’s data that could help the analysis of returns statistics, the comparison between the figures for 2014 and 2015, the reasons for migration and the assistance provided in the reception centres in El Salvador.
As a result, a forum developed in which the relationship between violence, education, institutional strengthening, migration and productive opportunities were discussed. The product of this forum will serve as a basis for the creation of an action plan that will consolidate the mutual support between agencies.
This meeting, which took place in San Salvador, included representatives of IOM, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Glasswing International, Checchi and Company Consulting, Inc., Enterprise Development Foundation (FEPADE) and USAID.
